TOPIC: Conditional Security (DCLM Daily Manna 1 September 2022)
TEXT: Genesis 35:1-5 (KJV)
1 And God mentioned unto Jacob, Come up, go as much as Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
2 Then Jacob mentioned unto his family, and to all that have been with him, Put away the unusual gods which might be amongst you, and be clear, and alter your clothes:
3 And allow us to come up, and go as much as Bethel; and I’ll make there an altar unto God, who answered me within the day of my misery, and was with me in the best way which I went.
4 And so they gave unto Jacob all of the unusual gods which have been of their hand, and all their earrings which have been of their ears; and Jacob hid them below the oak which was by Shechem.
5 And so they journeyed: and the phobia of God was upon the cities that have been spherical about them, and they didn’t pursue after the sons of Jacob.
KEY VERSE: “Then Jacob mentioned unto his family, and to all that have been with him, Put away the unusual gods which might be amongst you, and be clear, and alter your clothes” (GENESIS 35:2).
There are numerous occasions recorded within the Holy Bible to disprove the so-known as doctrine of unconditional everlasting safety. The speculation holds that after you’re saved from sin, you stay justified eternally, no matter your unguarded publish-salvation life-style. It advocates that you could be reside a carefree life after salvation.
From the textual content, the Lord had restrained the youngsters of Shechem from wreaking vengeful fury on Jacob and his family. Although He had delivered them as soon as, He now requested him to go for Bethel, “and make there an altar unto God.” However Jacob was not unaware of the methods of the God of his fathers. For him and his household to proceed to take pleasure in divine safety, they have to be in a relentless state of holiness. As they heeded Jacob’s directive to “Put away the unusual gods… and be clear”, the Lord additionally retained His presence with them.
Until we discard the “unusual gods” in our lives, we might not have the ability to benefit from the full safety Christ introduced by means of His dying and resurrection. We should get rid of something that drives away God’s presence in our lives.
Unusual gods give man a false sense of pleasure and destroys our relationship with God. To proceed to take pleasure in His presence, we should stay with Him each second after being born once more. Jesus makes it clear that solely those that endure to the tip will probably be saved (Matthew 24:13).
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Believers’ safety is conditional.
